    With a saturated online selling market, effective email outreach has become an essential marketing tool for businesses looking to get ahead.

    But when it comes to staying within the constraints of tech providers like Gmail and Outlook, knowing exactly how much volume you can send out each day is crucial – both in terms of reputation and delivery rate.

    The truth is that while these platforms may offer similar features, they vary greatly when it comes to how many emails they allow per day or even per hour.

    In this blog post, we’ll take a deep dive into what these limits are and why choosing the right one matters so much when it comes to digital marketing success!

    Let’s say you are ready to send your email campaign. We made a plan, collected a database of potential customers, wrote a selling text for letters, and even warmed up and set up your mailboxes. It seems that everything is ready and you can start, but you should also know about the limits of mail services, which we will talk about in this article.

    Each email service provider sets their own limits on the number of messages they can send. It can be:

    • restrictions on sending one letter to multiple recipients;
    • daily sending limit;
    • hourly sending limit;
    • sending limit per minute.

    These limits are set to prevent mail server overload and protect it from spammers.

    If you are not familiar with these restrictions, when sending a bulk email campaign, you may suddenly find that your account has been suspended. To avoid such troubles, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the policy of your mail provider.

    Please note that email service provider restrictions may change from time to time.

    Outlook sending limits

    Outlook has certain limits on how many emails you can send per day, which are in place to prevent spam and ensure that the service is used responsibly.

    Outlook.com

    You can send up to 300 emails per day, with a maximum of 100 recipients per email.

    Office 365 accounts

    The limits depend on the type of account you have. The following are the general limits for Office 365 accounts:

    • Exchange Online: 10,000 recipients per day, or 30 messages per minute

    • Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Premium: 10,000 recipients per day, or 30 messages per minute

    • Microsoft 365 Enterprise: 500,000 recipients per day, or 30 messages per minute

    It’s worth noting that these limits are subject to change, so it’s always a good idea to check with Microsoft’s documentation for the latest information. Additionally, your organization may have set more restrictive limits than those set by Microsoft.

    Google sending limits

    Free Gmail

    To combat spam, a regular free Gmail account allows you to send:

    • daily no more than 100 messages when using SMTP and 500 letters when using a browser;
    • one message to no more than 500 recipients.

    Google Workspace

    These are the limits for sending Gmail internal messages:

    • 2,000 emails per day (500 in trial mode);
    • 10,000 automatically forwarded messages per day;
    • 2,000 recipients per email and 100 recipients when using SMTP;
    • 10,000 recipients per day;
    • 3,000 external recipients per day (for paid accounts).

    There are several ways to help you overcome these limitations. In any case, be aware that due to low-quality bulk cold emails without personalization, your email service will block you for spam even before you reach your send limit.

    • Check if your ISP offers a business subscription to overcome sending limits.
    • Ask your corporate email administrator to provide you with a dedicated bulk mailing account or to temporarily remove these restrictions from your email address.
    • Verify your Outlook.com account with an SMS message to temporarily override restrictions.

    It is recommended to use mailing services, as they use their internal limits, exceeding which your mailboxes will not suffer in any way and will maintain their reputation in the eyes of email providers.

    For example, a service like anybiz.io determines the “temperature” of your mailboxes by calculating age, maximum limits, and mailbox type.

    Also, such services do not send a large number of emails at once, but distribute the load throughout the day, which is also very useful for the “health” of your mailboxes.

    Conclusion

    Ultimately, email is an essential tool for both communication and marketing. Depending on your goals and preferences, you can use either Gmail or Outlook to make sure that your emails reach their intended audience.

    However, keep in mind that each service has different limits when it comes to the number of emails you are allowed to send each day.

    For small-scale businesses and individual users, these limitations are unlikely to be an issue; however, if large volumes of emails need to be sent, an alternative email provider will likely be necessary.

    With so many options available these days, you should be able to easily find a provider that is suited for your needs. Happy mailing!
